It's one of those hammy old things people say, hammy biblical type people that is 'Do unto others as you would have done unto yourself'? A bit tarty but those apple-glazed ones have a point, spreading a little happiness as you go by, has a nice outward ripple, it gets paid forward and theoretically we may all end up contributing to world peace.... also it's a way to connect to the world isn't it, and get out there, make a difference in someone else's day.
I've set myself a goal to do something for someone every day, it may be unexpected, it may be unplanned, but it will be something.
